A Letter to Chuck
I opened a FedEx packet yesterday and was surprised to see a letter from the Effie Awards addressed to Chuck Brymer, President & CEO, DDB Worldwide.

I majored in advertising because I couldn't get into engineering school. After graduating, I took a job in advertising to make enough money to pay off my debts so I could then find something I really wanted to do. In the process, however, I fell in love with this crazy profession. I've had the good fortune to work as a partner with some of the world's greatest brands -- Alaska Airlines, Boeing, Holland America Line, JanSport, McDonald's, Nordstrom, Westin Hotels, Weyerhaeuser, to name a few. My greatest professional joy, however, was conceiving, birthing, raising and running an agency that was voted by its own employees to be one of the state's best companies for which to work for nearly a decade in a row. After that I never wished I had been able to invent a diode.

About a month ago we received a very nice thank you letter from our client at the Swedish Medical Center Foundation for the significant contribution from the last Charity Golf Classic. I would have posted it earlier but had to wait for my personal blog tutorial from Dan Miller.
Last Thursday, I had the honor of attending the 59th Annual Advertising Hall of Fame function in New York City to watch my friend and mentor, Keith Reinhard being inducted.
I resolve to stop eating fish so the rest of the world can catch up to me in the smarts department. Just kidding. That's a line from my good friend Kirk Lanterman. And in his case it's true. My real resolution is to try to be a better husband, father, and friend to everyone – even to those I’ve not yet met.
